Team

My research interests span a wide range from comets to planetary bodies in our Solar System. A major part of my professional career is devoted to the investigation of comets by means of spacecraft exploration, in particular mass spectrometry on the Rosetta mission. This includes the study of the formation of comets and their comae and their interaction with the solar wind. My research combines instrumentation and numerical modeling techniques. I’m interested in the design, development, calibration, and operation of spacecraft instrumentation and associated laboratory equipment. I also use numerical modeling tools to refine the interpretation of such observations, from Monte Carlo type approaches to plasma simulations by means of magnetohydrodynamics.

Further research interests cover the thin atmospheres of Jupiter’s icy moon Europa and other objects such as the Moon and Saturn’s moon Enceladus.
